Canker sores, those small white superficial lesions that form inside the mouth, may seem harmless, but they can be more than just irritations.
Of course, they can be triggered by external factors such as certain foods or neglected oral hygiene, but they can also be the result of deeper issues...
Like that of being a psychosomatic symptom.

Especially when our mind wants to send us a warning message!
Think about it for a moment: the mouth is more than just an organ. It is thanks to it that we can eat, speak, communicate, express our feelings and interact with the world around us. It is at the heart of our existence.
However, when something is dysfunctional in our lives, whether emotionally, relationally or psychologically, it can manifest physically, and canker sores are an example of this.
These little wounds can be a sign that something is wrong within us, that we are out of balance.
For example, if you have difficulty expressing yourself, if you are unable to say what you think or feel, this can create internal stress which manifests itself in the form of mouth ulcers.
Likewise, if you wear a mask in front of others, if you hide your emotions or keep secrets, this can result in canker sores: “keeping your mouth shut”.
Even fear of change can play a role in the appearance of these mouth sores. If you resist accepting changes in your life and suffer in silence, this may be reflected in your oral health.
It is also worth noting that excessive expression of feelings, including anger or frustration, may be associated with the appearance of canker sores. When we fail to manage our emotions in a healthy and constructive way, our body reacts!
But then, what can be done to get rid of these canker sores and prevent their reappearance?
The key often lies in identifying the source of the problem.
By understanding what is behind these oral lesions, we can begin to work on the emotional, psychological or relational aspects that underlie them.
For example, you might decide to make a commitment to yourself, such as expressing yourself freely and calmly, trusting your coping skills and intuition, and managing your emotions in a constructive way.
By cultivating a better understanding of yourself and your emotional needs, you can help prevent the future occurrence of canker sores and promote better overall health.
Ultimately, canker sores can be more than just mouth irritations. They can be indicators of our emotional and psychological well-being, prompting us to explore and resolve underlying issues to regain balance in our lives.
So, the next time you notice a canker sore in your mouth, take it as a sign that something may be worth your attention and consideration...
